Lincoln Ross set out to prove that people with disabilities can do everything anyone else can do !! Boy did he prove that Saturday night!
Lincoln Ross is 33 years old and has down syndrome. Last year when the organisers of the stars of Dubbo event approached me about Lincoln possibly being a star, we jumped at the opportunity; I instinctively knew in my heart that Lincoln would be a valued part of this important fundraiser.
We’ve been rehearsing with Lincoln Ross for the past four months for his performance in the Stars of Dubbo Dance for
Cancer. Lincoln has been participating in both Zumba and AllAbilitiesDanz for the past five years. Lincoln loves the 80’s genre of music and loves any opportunity to have a sing and a dance. Lincoln’s choice for his performance was Grease Lightning; he rocked the dance and received a score of 17 out of 20! Lincoln also received the people’s choice award for his performance, he was over the moon, and danced late into the night with his sisters who had travelled to see their brother show Dubbo his love for music and dance, and along with Tracy and the team.
Lincoln and Tracy dedicated the dance to Lincoln’s mother, along with Tracy’s best friend’s and like a second mother figure Christine Lucas; who both lost the battle to cancer. And to Karen Nardi who is currently fighting.
The total raised from the event was $87,000 which is a massive effort from the Dubbo community for attending fund raisers from the stars; Lincoln raised a whopping $3,879.26!
